Antenatal Visits
Your first visit will be at 10 weeks of pregnancy once you have had your dating scan. Initial dating scans and routine antenatal blood tests should be requested by your GP when you attend them for your referral.
Your first appointment will take approximately 45 minutes. During this appointment your recent results and medical history will be reviewed and together with Dr English you will discuss and make plans for your pregnancy and birth.
We know that pregnancy can feel overwhelming so you will be provided with all the information you need at your first visit to get you on the right path. At each appointment you will meet Dr English and her midwife and an ultrasound will be performed. The frequency of appointments will depend on your specific needs and how your pregnancy is progressing, but appointments are usually scheduled every four weeks in the first and second trimester.
Labour & Delivery
Deliveries take place exclusively at St John of God Hospital Subiaco. Dr Nicola English values the importance of autonomy and shared decision-making to ensure the best and safest outcome for your birth.
Our birth suites and theatres are modern and equipped with state-of-the-art features. Patients benefit from our spacious and comfortable rooms while safe in the knowledge there is 24-hour anaesthetic, paediatric and theatre support along with an exceptional special care nursery
All postnatal rooms are ensuite and suitable for your support person to stay. In the post-natal period, you will have the support of our experienced midwives in addition to lactation consultants and physiotherapists until you feel ready to go home. Our aim is for the birth of your baby to be a special and relaxed experience however it occurs.
